Caramel Corn

Source: Women of Spirit

 

1/2 cup popcorn

1/4 cup peanut butter

1/3 cup molasses

1/4 tsp. salt

 

Pop popcorn in hot-air popper. Mix peanut butter, molasses, and salt in a

saucepan and heat until bubbly. Pour mixture over popped popcorn and stir

to coat popcorn. Spread popcorn on cookie sheet sprayed with vegetable

spray and bake at 200 degrees F. for 1 1/2 hours.

Do you think this recipe could be made with honey or agave instead of the

molasses? It seems like it might taste better.

What do you all think?

Becky, I think that it would be good with an alternative sweetener

---- but --- I have wonderful childhood memories of a wonderful

popcorn our neighbor made for their children every Saturday night.

The popcorn was covered with gooey molasses and peanuts. It was SO

good! But, if you prefer a milder flavor, I think the honey or agave

would be great!
