Guest guest
I'm cross posting this, so I apologize if you're reading this more than once. I was looking at Avalon Organics Lavender shampoo and saw that it had beta-glucan (oat) on the ingredient list. I'm gluten intolerant, not celiac, and I'm wondering if this could cause problems. Any ideas/opinions/experiences? Thanks, Traci

Guest guest
This is just my 2 cents on the issue: I am celiac, but don't have dermatitis herpetisformis. However, I have 5 other skin " conditions " . With that, I've found that certain ingredients trigger rashes and outbreaks... those ingredients tend to be parabens (helping to maintain " shelf-life " ) and sodium lauryl/laurenth sulfates (used to make your products have a better lather--otherwise known as engine degreasers). I use all natural/organic products on my face/hair/body and have had no problems or reactions to them. Avalon Organics is a product line that I use a lot and have never had problems. I think there is a big misconception in that if a product has some form of gluten in it (this applying to those people who don't have dermatitis herpetisformis) then they will get a rash/sore/infection from the product. When more than likely it's because those products have ingredients that are either known carcinogens or things that are just harmful to the body. http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php?nothanks=1 this website allows you to type in the names of all products you use (cosmetics, shampoos, lotions, etc...) and it will tell you the ingredients, if those ingredients are known for anything and will rate the products on a scale of 0-10 based on the " hazard " the product's ingredients are known for. i took the Avalon organics lavender shampoo and here's what it came up with: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/product.php?prod_id=69073 & refurl=%2Fwordsearch.\ php%3Fquery%3Davalon%2Borganics%26 and compared it to a fairly common shampoo pantene pro-v color revival: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/product.php?prod_id=25570 & refurl=%2Fwordsearch.\ php%3Fquery%3Dpantene+shampoo%26 and another option (that's good for millions of uses! and cheap!!!) Dr Bronner's castile liquid soap: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/product.php?prod_id=59267 & refurl=%2Fwordsearch.\ php%3Fquery%3Ddr+bronner%26 anyways, good luck with whatever you choose to purchase Marie =) On 9/12/07, Carolyn Malone <honeycomb44 wrote: > > I would not use it. > I read all shampoo and conditioner labels also. when I dont I get into > some im allergic and then I have rash and sores in my head.
