Guest guest
Kissel (Russia) Source: Encyclopedia of European Cooking This dessert is very popular in Russia and can be made from a variety of fruit, such as apples, cherries, redcurrants and so on. Juice left over from canned or stewed fruit can be used too. The consistency of kissel may vary from a firm, cold jelly (jello), to a thick, creamy liquid. The soft kissel may be served warm as an accompaniment to other dishes.
