Guest guest
I cant give exact measurements here, as I tend to just whip stuff up until it looks right! I make these in small batches to avoid spoilage, since there are no preservatives in them. When I travel, I mix a drop or two of oregano oil or vodka as a preservative. You can adjust the amount of essential oils for your personal taste- start with a few drops, add more if desired HOMEMADE TOOTHPASTE 4 TBS virgin coconut oil (its solid) 3 drops peppermint oil pinch of sea salt pinch of baking soda Blend all ingredients together with a fork. It its too hard to work, let the oil sit in a warm area for a little while to soften. Store in a used prescription bottle or small container HOMEMADE MOUTHWASH 2 cups good quality water 8 drops peppermint or spearmint oil 2 drops lemon oil 2 tbs sea salt 1 tbs baking soda Put all ingredients in a mason jar, and shake well. Shake again before each use. LIP GLOSS 1 tbs virgin coconut oil pinch of powdered beetroot stir together with a toothpic and store in a small container-I use a container that had a commercial gloss in it, which I rinsed and sanitizes. ALL PURPOSE BODY LOTION 1/2 cup vegetable glycerin few drops of your favorite essential oil-I like rose and lavender Mix together in a small pump dispenser. Shake before each use. This can be used on all parts of the body, including the face. It absorbs quickly. Great when you are still damp from the shower ALL PURPOSE BODY BUTTER: 1 cup virgin coconut oil few drops of essential oil. Mash with a fork until well blended. Super rich cream, a little goes a long way, and can be used head to toe! BODY POWDER: 1 cup cornstarch or tapioca starch 2 tbs baking soda essential oil. Put everything in a zipper bag, and give it a good shake. Add more oil if needed. Shake a couple of times a day. I put a small amount in an old powder puff container, and add to the container as needed. It will hold the scent better if stored in the bag. HAIR GEL: 2 tbs chia seeds (think chia pet-available at health food store 1 cup warm water. Place seeds in water and wait for them to gel-about 15 minutes. Place the gel in the blender or food processor until the seeds disolve. Pour into a container (I use a small mason jar) and allow to re gel. Use a small amount to tame hair. (I have super long, really thick naturally curly hair, and this is the best stuff I have ever tried-far better than the commercial stuff) SHAMPOO 1 bottle castile soap 5 drops essential oil 5 drops vegetable glycerine 1 tbs white or apple cider vinegar Mix and shampoo as usual (I find I only need to lather once with this mix-I thing the commercial products tell you to lather twice just so you need to buy more quicker) Rinse well CONDITIONER: 1/2 cup virgin coconut oil 1/4 cup vegetable glycerine essential oil chia seeds Process all of it in a food processor, add a little warm water to form a cream. Store in a container. Only a small amount is needed. You can also use this as a deep condition once a week, by applying it to clean hair, and wrapping your hair in a hot towel (I moisten a towel and micro it for a few seconds) Rinse well. My hair is really dry, and this works well for me-if your hair is oily, you might need a rinse after using this made from white vinegar with some essential oil added. ALL PURPOSE HOUSEHOLD CLEANER: In a new spray bottle (I buy them from the garden dept) Fill the bottle half full of water, and half hydrogen peroxide, add some essential oil, 2 tbs of vodka (cuts grease) and shake well. Cleans all surfaces. When you spray it, if it foams up, you know the area foaming needs a good cleaning-peroxide foams when it comes in contact with bacteria. It freaked me out the first time I sprayed behind my bathroom sinks-I guess I wasnt as good of a housekeeper as I thought!! LAUNDRY DETERGENT: equal parts baking soda and borax and salt. Add essential oil (I like lavender for the laundry) Use about 1 cup per load FABRIC SOFTENER: 1/2 WHITE VINEGAR 1/2 WATER ESSENTIAL OIL Use about 1/2 cup in rinse, or can be used with a downy ball DISHWASHER DETERGENT: This is not really a recipe that keeps, so here is what I do. When I am ready to wash dishes, I pour 1 cup of baking soda, and 1/2 cup of borax into the lowest part of the opened door of the washer. I pour on enough white vinegar for the foam to really get boiling, shake in a couple of drops of citrus oil, close the lid and let it rip. My dishes come out sparkling clean, with no chemical residue-lots cheaper than the storebought too! I will post some more things later. Let me know if you have any questions. My long standing sinus issues and headaches have been resolved by eliminating so many chemicals. Read the ingredients on the stuff you are using-you will see what I mean!
