Guest guest Posted March 17, 2007 Report Share Posted March 17, 2007 Red Lentil Dahl 1 cup dried red split lentils, washed, drained 4 cups water 3 thin slices fresh ginger 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric 1/4 cup canola oil 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1. Place lentils and water into a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil. Use a spoon to skim any residue from surface. 2. Reduce heat to low. Add ginger and turmeric. Partially cover with a lid. Simmer for 1 hour. Cook, stirring, for a further 30 minutes or until lentils are tender. 3. Heat oil in a small frying pan over high heat. Add cumin, coriander and cayenne pepper.
