Guest guest Posted March 3, 2007 Report Share Posted March 3, 2007 Best Ever Brussel Sprouts Source: Howiesar at Recipezaar (veganized). 1/2 cup vegan margarine (-OR- oil) 1 large diced onion 3 chopped garlic cloves 2 lbs (900 g) Brussels sprouts (cut in half if large ones) 1/2 cup chopped celery 3 tablespoons (45 ml) olive oil 1/2 lb (225 g) slivered almonds salt pepper 1. Bring a pan of salted water to a boil and immerse the brussel sprouts to cook for 2-3 minutes. Drain them and rinse with cold water. Set aside for a moment. 2. Melt the margarine in a large saute pan and cook the onions and celery until the onions are carmalized over medium heat. 3. Then add in the brussel sprouts, garlic, oil and salt and pepper and cook for 3-4 minutes, tossing until combined. 4. Toss in almond slivers and serve at once. Serves 4 - 6.
