Guest guest
I would like to hear others' thoughts on dark circles under kids eyes, too. I always had them as a child (still do to some degree) but was not raised anywhere near vegan. I've been vegan for the last 9 years and gluten-free for four. At last check my iron level was quite good. My 5-yr-old has been vegan since birth and has very dark circles. I've been questioned before as to whether she has seasonal allergies and that that may cause them? Not sure about her iron levels. Any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Mary --- Alice Leonard <alice wrote: > it sounds like you feed your kids a v healthy diet - > good on you, and > lucky them! > when my son has dark marks under his eyes, i just > assume he's tired, > and try to get him to bed a bit earlier. i'll be > interested in other > people's thoughts on that. > best wishes, and keep up the good work! > alice > > On 13 Feb 2007, at 10:46, Kelli J. wrote: > > > I have been concerned because my children have > some circles under > > their eyes which signals to me that they are > possibly low on iron? > > They eat a homemade baked good for breakfast made > from buckwheat and > > brown rice flour, pumpkin, egg replacer and dates. > i thought maybe > > adding molassas would help with the iron? > > they get food for life brown rice bread with > peanut butter and fruit > > spread (sugar free) w/apple sauce (sugar free) for > lunch > > then dinner is usually some sort of legume, rice, > rice tortilla or > > sweet potato, and a veggie (peas or carrots). > Sometimes I make vegan > > pesto (cashews, basil and oil) on brown rice > pasta. > > > > They drink fortified oj and water...brown rice > cakes , blueberries, > > blackberries, and apples for snacks. > > > > Can anyone see something obviously missing? My daughter was like that too. The docs kept telling me it was allergies. It was gluten. She wasn't absorbing enough nutrients and was quite sick. Got her off gluten and they cleared right up. Husband too. A doctor has since told me that it's a sign of a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Guest guest
yeah I have also heard that it could be a systematic yeast infection (which is horrible to treat). - Shannon West Monday, February 12, 2007 8:05 PM Re: dark undereye circles At 03:06 PM 2/12/2007, you wrote: >I would like to hear others' thoughts on dark circles >under kids eyes, too. Guest guest
Have you looked at any of Dr. Doris Rapp's books. In one called Is This Your Child? she used to have a substantial list of allergic symptoms, including raccoon eyes. It might be worth looking in to. Dr. Rapp is a clinical ecologist from the old days. Guest guest
Anyone know which nutrients (minerals etc) are the deficiencies for dark eye circles? -- Version: 7.5.441 / Virus Database: 268.17.39/686 - Release 2/14/2007 7:54 AM
Guest guest
Hi, Wow, I guess I am on the right track. My daughter has dark circles under her eyes. That is what got me started searching for nutrition for her. I thought it was an iron deficiency or something like that. Since I have her on gluten free foods now, they are diminishing.
