Charleen, Have you ever sprouted almonds, sunflower, or pumpkin seeds?

They are a favorite at our house. I soak the hulled seeds overnight,

rinse them well, then refill with fresh water and refrigerate. I rinse

them both morning and evening. They stay very fresh this way and I make

only enough to keep for 2 days, and then I start all over again. My

husband enjoys all nuts prepared like this. We do one jar with mixed

nuts such as walnuts, almonds and brazil. Then another jar with

sunflower and pumpkin seeds mixed. They have a very mild flavour.

Soaking helps destroy the enzyme inhibitor making them easier to digest.

Nuts and seeds soaked like this do not grow a sprout but are very

healthy for you.

Another sprout like alfalfa, is red clover seed. It seems to have a

little milder flavour.

Unhulled sunflower seeds take a lot longer to sprout and have a very

stong flavour. They are very healthy for you!

I have had quite a few years of sprouting success, thanks to the

following book: The Sprouting Book by Ann Wigmore

Happy sprouting! [:)]
