Guest guest
Resurrecting this thread... I didn't have any information to provide at the time, but just today I ran across an interesting study in the New England Journal of Medicine and remembered the question of purines had been raised in the past. Here is that study, which concluded that meat and seafood were implicated in gout prevalence, but a " moderate intake of purine-rich vegetables " did not. Yay, veggies! It also found dairy to lower the incidence. I haven't read it all, so here it is. I hope it helps. http://snipr.com/1nv0p (www.nutritionaustralia.org) Alice, here's a page with more on purines, in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purine -Erin check out my gluten-free, vegan cookbook: http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog/store.html , Alice Leonard <alice wrote: > > pardon my ignorance, but what's purine? > > On 24 Oct 2006, at 16:02, rr6013 wrote: > > > This in addition to an already GFdiet.
