Guest guest
Thank you so much for all of the replies (I'm still reading through them). I believe grains are causing me joint pain as well. So, it's not so much the weight thing as much as the joint pain. I'm a massage therapist and cannot work with sore joints. Every year I do a raw vegan detox and I say detox because I cannot seem to stick with it for more than a couple of months. <g> I feel wonderful during that time and have no joint pains, but as soon as I start eating grains again the pain returns. I make sure to not any any " enriched " grains so I it's not a gluten problem. I'm mainly eating corn, millet, amaranth, and quinoa and sometimes brown or wild rice. I'm going to cut out the rice and see what happens. Tomatoes seem to be fine, but I used some tomato paste that must have had gluten in it. Thanks again for helping me to figure this out. Guest guest
Hi Shannon; When it comes to joint pains, (for me) CORN is a prime trigger. I think it is far more likely the culprit than those other grains you've mentioned. ... especially in it's dried form as a grain. Fresh corn as a vegetable seems to be less of a problem. Things like corn chips, corn flour, popped corn, corn cereals all seem to cause me joint pains. I'd strongly suggest that you eliminate corn in all forms rather than the other grains, and see how you do for at least 10 days. If that seems to work, try adding back just some fresh corn and see how that goes. While gluten contamination of the tomato paste is possible, it occurs to me that your reaction to it may be due to the extreme concentration of that tomato product. Consider how much less tomato there is in even a large, whole fresh tomato compared to even a small can of tomato paste. For some people, allergic reactions are strongly affected by quantity of contact. For other people, ANY contact triggers the full reaction. For me, quantity affects the extent 9intensity and duration) of a reaction. Deborah Thank you so much for all of the replies (I'm still reading through them).
