Recipies: Distinguishing Foods From Stimulants (WAS: Bored with raw)

Hi Belinda,

Yes, a big awareness ... this is part of the picture.

For the most part, " recipes " means:

1. Complicating the digestive load we place upon our system. We slow the

digestive process and live with far less available energy than our potential

allows.

2. Adding stimulants. We never allow body to fully cleanse and restore our

senses of taste and smell, and so we never reach a place of full

self-awareness. We never learn through our own experience what various foods

actually taste like ... when they are ripe, when they are too acidic, etc.

3. Adding stimulants. Following from #2, immediately above, we never allow

ourselves to experience genuine satiation with any food. We never learn

through our own experience what " enough " means. We never learn through

experience that certain items, though raw and vegan, are not foods for us.

And so forth.

So the cost of reliance upon recipes is far greater than most would imagine.

I'm not speaking here about occasional use of recipes or even about very

simple, nonstimulating combinations. For example, a salad may contain greens

and tomatoes ... and these are not stimulants. But the moment we add " flavor

enhancers " , we cross the line separating food from stimulants.

Best,

Elchanan

[Raw Food] Re: Bored with raw

It would seem to me that the more you " play " with your food, the more

obsessed you might become with it or remain obsessed with it.

By play with it, I mean, complicated recepies and presentations. so many are

obsessed with eating and food in general, that this just encourages it and

takes more of their time that they could be doing something else. None food

related. I think the idea of raw and healthy eating is to get away from the

food obsessions and just eat to live. Eat what you need to thrive and get

on with something else. Don't stick around dwelling on it.

As for how healthy recepies and fancy presentations are, I don't see why it

would be any less healthy than any other kind of raw eating.
