if i remember right,,,from pharmacology class and reinforced in biological

psychology class....

we cant " make more serotonin " we can only affect the amount 'taken up " by

the receptors..

hence drugs like SSRI's....theyre serotonin reuptake inhibitors..they BLOCK

the receptors

allowing serotonin to COLLECT AND POOL in your brain....

thats the only way to " increase " the amount....

a classic SSRI is fenfluramine..of phen-fen fame.....serotonin satisfies

appetite..it gives

us that cozy just been fed feeling....so an SSRI like fenfluramine KILLED

your appetite

on the spot...and it did too, trust me....stopped your hunger cold in its

tracks...

another SSRI is prozac.....(they tried the phentermine/prozac combo at one

point but

it wasn't anywhere near as succesful as the fenfluramine).

serotonin calms us, so SSRI's calm us....

serotonin inducing foods would be grain, potatoes, bread, all the evils

we've read about

here...

i have a book on my shelf right now called " Potatoes not Prozac " ...its

touting the

benefits of feeding people more potatoes to eleviate the need for SSRI's....

you may want to look into that book Kerri, but for me, those foods equal

ARTHRITIS.

hope this helps a bit...
