Guest guest
- Elchanan >And sadly, if we look around us, we ALL know. Look around yourself, at your friends, family, coworkers, other associates. Can anyone here name a single human, other than a long-term raw fooder, who is just outrageously healthy? Zero weight issues, zero skin issues, zero digestive issues, zero respiratory issues (allergies or otherwise), zero " food allergies " , lean body, physically active, loves their work (to the extent that their work really is their play), great friends .... I mean ... can you name ONE such person??? I don't know any people like this - those who physically look healthy, really aren't if you look closer, or speak with them for more than 3 seconds (sometimes even 2 seconds is enough). I know soooo many people, a few of them within my own family, who have glaring health problems, but claim they are healthy, or more to the point, " not sick " . My younger brother, for example, is 6'4, 100kg (with bigger breasts than me), gets winded if he has to jog, has a constant " squeaky hip " (er, passes a lot of gas), has a bm once a week if he's lucky, has horrible skin problems on his hands and feet, and other problems with skin on his back, face, and so on. He's " fine, just unfit " . A friend of mine is in her 50's, extremely obese, twice the size of me, has trouble walking even short distances, has been in hospital with heart and blood pressure problems ( " It was the stress " ), but she's fine too. Her son had 4 heart attacks by the time he turned 30, but he's fine too. She started him on solids at 4 weeks, yes, weeks, not months, " because he was hungry " , all the family has heavy, cooked meals at every mealtime, and snacks are hotdogs, or nachos or pizza, or fried chinese foods, drinks are always soft drinks. Her grandkids (2 boys aged 9 and 7, 1 girl 12 months, and another due to hatch any day) are also well on the road to obesity. None have been breastfed, and all started early on solids, usually straight into the bread and hotdogs. The eldest boy is " about to start puberty, his voice is changing, and he's getting his boobs " uh, since when do boys get boobs?? " oh they all do, you'll see! " My brothers didn't, until they got fat, and only 1 boy in my class did, but his were overdeveloped pectoral muscles. Everywhere I go, I hear people saying " well, my mother started me on solids at 2 days, and I'm fine " , or " I've eated chocolate all my life, and I'm fine " , or " I don't eat fruit or veges, and I'm fine " . Even more upsetting are those who've finally realised they're NOT fine ( " oh, the doctor said I have high blood pressure " ), but figure " well, there's nothing I can do about it now " , and keep going the way they've been going. Not sure I had a point here, just wanted to get it off my chest ;o) Caron
