Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm watching this discussion, and I would point out that when you say " when I am hungry " , the odds are that you are not physiologically hungry at all. In my experience, almost no one alive in the U.S. and affiliates (Canada, Australia, etc.) today has EVER experienced genuine, physiological hunger. So through no " wrong " intention on the part of anyone, this conversation thread is pretty far from the mark. What you are ALL describing is craving, not hunger ... else you would simply never say something such as the first sentence, below. Until you relearn to distinguish genuine hunger, this will always seem " out of control " , " hard " , and so forth. This is why, as I've written numerous times, I teach people early on to reconnect with their sensory awarenesses, particularly for thirst, hunger, and satiation. Most people haven't a clue about any of these...and so " listening to my body " becomes an impossible proposition. I hope to offer a program, perhaps during 2008 CE, where people can come and relearn such things ... and more. We'll see what unravels ... er, I mean, unfolds! :) Best, Elchanan PS: I've completely replace the subject line, the old one was irrelevant. _____ rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Caroline G Gomes Friday, June 29, 2007 4:49 PM rawfood RE: [Raw Food] day in the life Yup When I am hungry I am most likely to eat anything in sight. I always take a small cooler with fruit and ice anywhere I go just in case I get hungry. Or I can stop at Wawa and get a banana but then I see all the other stuff and it is a little harder LOL!! Guest guest
Hello Elchanan I read your posts from a little while ago about listening to your body and your suggestion to drink water and wait to see what happens (or something to that affect). I do try that often. Sometimes I am thirsty but sometimes I am hungry. I get tired, my stomach hurts and I need to get more calories to continue on with my day. I was never one to eat 3 large meals a day...I always ate small meals, the only difference now is I eat only raw meals. Don't get me wrong...there are times when I think I am hungry and then if I don't act on it, the " hunger " goes away quickly and I feel fine. Again...learning process for me. I am still trying to learn when to eat and when to just let it go. Thanks for your insight Caroline rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Elchanan Friday, June 29, 2007 9:41 PM rawfood [Raw Food] Big Relearnings: Thirst, Hunger, Satiation; Perceiving hunger vs. experiencing cravings Hi everyone, I'm watching this discussion, and I would point out that when you say " when I am hungry " , the odds are that you are not physiologically hungry at all. Guest guest
Caroline, You are welcome. I assure you that what looks like the " only difference " to you is not, not at all. And genuine hunger does not " go away quickly " in the manner you describe. Really, what you experience is something else. I cannot coach you effectively on this in via email alone or in a format such as this one. If you wish to " get it: " ... for life ... feel free to contact me privately at your convenience. And anyone else, as well.
