Guest guest
Erin and all, This is a wonderful book. But the fundamental break in comprehension does not lie in the fact that many animals eat certain foods in response to specific conditions. Of course they do. Such symbiotic relationships occur throughout Nature ... relationships in which BOTH species benefit. And THAT is the point. A fundamental problem with this book, and with anything I've ever read, seen, or heard about all forms of " treatment " occurring in Nature, is that we humans INTERPRET what we are observing as " treatment " . We create this interpretation not out of any sense of Nature's design, but based upon our own, consciously chosen, largely self-destructive lifestyle. From Nature's point of view, it is not " treatment " at all. Rather, it is the natural exercise of well-designed (and consider the source!! symbiotic exchanges. The point is that these animals did not CHOOSE to adopt a lifestyle that, in and of itself, created diseases and other unhealthful conditions. We humans (collectively speaking) DO choose such a path, 24x7x365. If and when we all adopt a fabulously healthful lifestyle and watch virtually all our health maladies vanish, THEN, if one or two conditions persist, we might constructively look for " remedies " ... MAYBE. But we humans have chosen, instead, to create maladies of every imaginable kind, then turn to " natural remedies " IN LIEU OF changing our lifestyle ... that is, IN LIEU of removing the cause of most of the maladies. Of all the animals living upon this planet, to my knowledge only we humans possess such intelligence. The rest of the animals just live healthfully to begin with. How silly of them!! In other words, the other animals are participating in symbiotic exchanges, EVEN exchanges, that flourish throughout Nature, by design. In contrast, we are trying to " treat " our symptoms, in lieu of addressing their cause. What we call " treatment " involves a unidirectional flow; we have no regard for any sort of symbiotic relationship, no regard for whatever might benefit the plant from which we seek the remedy (other than whatever regard may be needed to cultivate the plant for our own benefit). And this seems remarkable, because we appear to be the only species on the planet that possesses a capacity to distinguish " cause-and-effect " and a capacity for " consciousness " . Anyway, I'm off to other topics, those who " get " this do, and those who don't, don't.
