Guest guest
Dog owners, for the most part, do not feed their dogs because they believe they are carnivores, omnivores, or any other kind of vores. They feed them " dog food " because they have been taught to feed them " dog food " . In all likelihood, most dog owners have no more idea what is in the dog food than they have about what is in their own food. But surely, in the scientific community, the clear majority believe dogs are carnivores. As I may have mentioned, they are almost forced into this conclusion by certain underlying beliefs that comprise part of the religion called " science " . The exception, of course, are veterinarians ... perhaps because they wish to harm all the dogs in order to create business for themselves, as Carrie (I think that was her name) asserted, perhaps because they have more direct contact with more dogs than anyone else. So the majority, in this case, refers to a majority in the scientific community. And from what Carrie wrote, I sense a majority of " aware " dog owners, as well. But as for the majority of the population-at-large, I suspect most believe that dogs are " dog-food-vores " . And if, on this occasion, there is SOME majority that actually holds a correct belief about something, then let us all sing praises, for humanity may be inching forward in its (collective) evolution into conscious awareness!!! The New Agers certainly hold that such forward movement is the order of the day. Perhaps ... though I remain skeptical on the point. The overwhelming majority of dog owners feed kibble or canned, which is a high percentage grains and/or veggies. The majority of the small number of rawfeeders feed veggies also. People who believe in feeding raw meat without veggies are an even smaller number. Most people believe that dogs need grains and veggies. Most vets even recommend feeding veggies, fruits, and often other starches or grains. I am sure a lot of this comes from the pet food industry, and trying to " match " kibble formulas in some way (which are just trying to use up waste products from other industries). The rawfeeding list I'm on has many new members joining daily who have read or been told by their breeders or their friends or their vets that dogs are omnivores and need veggies. It is always being explained to them that dogs are actually carnivores, as a few of us here have said. Laurie
Guest guest
Ok, thanks for clarifying. FYI, no one said vets want to harm dogs so they have business. But there is a lot of brainwashing, just like in the medical industry for humans. The dog food and pharmaceutical companies heavily support the vet schools and supply nutrition education, etc. I do hope we are inching forward in our collective consciousness.
