Re: [Raw Food] Chewing; Hypersensitive Gag Reflex [subconscious;

Dynamic Self-Discovery] (WAS: Food Combining Through the Day: A Few Tips)

Caron: I have no idea re varieties of lettuce - I know iceberg and cos,

that's

about it. There are other varieties available from the " Fruit Man " , as my

boy has dubbed him, and I'm trying them one by one so I know what they are.

Is lettuce enough greens for both of us? I see people talking about the

copious quantities of kale and kohlrabi and spinach and so on that they eat,

which is why I went for the bok choy..

Elchanan: People talk about many things. I stopped listening to most of it

years ago, and I highly recommend this approach. Why?

1. All majority opinions are wrong.

2. Everyone has an absolute right to hold and express any opinion

imaginable. At the same time, the opinions of 10,000 uninformed people are

of no use to me and can, in fact, be distracting and misleading.

3. I find that what enters through my eyes and ears remains in my mind.

Therefore, I'm choosy about what enters.

As for varieties of lettuce, just experiment, they may vary across the

seasons. Any tender green will do. For example, if you live near any

forested areas, and you have anyone who can teach you to identify Miner's

Lettuce and the like these would be excellent resources, and fun in the

gathering.

Iceberg lettuce has received a bum rap over the years, but this is

underserved. This particular variety is higher in water and therefore lower

in calories and other nutrients than other greens. Therefore, bite-for-bite

it is a less efficient way to gather nutrients. But there is nothing " wrong "

with eating iceberg lettuce.

Bottom line: If a particular green tastes bitter and/or is tough to chew,

that's your clue that it is not a great primary food for our species, and

certainly not for a little one. If you need a blender (or some other

process) just to get it down, then it's just not food for us!

______

Caron: Yes, it (headset) finally came, thankyou for your patience :o) I

still need to

download the program and figure out how to use it, then I'll be good to go.

Thanks again for the information.

Elchanan: Great! Just go to www.skype.com/ and click on the Download button

along the top row. Once you create your id, then write to me privately and

I'll connect with you. It's VERY quick and easy. One caveat: once you assign

a name to an email address, you cannot change that assignment, as far as I

am aware. So if you wish to practice, use an email address you don't care

about. And if you're happy with however it works out the first time, use

your " real " email address right off the bat.

Or it could mean it is not right

for the one experiencing it thusly.
