Guest guest
Almost everyone loses weight on raw foods while eating a very satisfying, fulfilling and tasty diet. Even raw fats are processed differently. And now (summer) is the time for it. The best thing to do is to self-educate. For example, the largest study on nutrition ever is The China Study, and it's findings directly debase your doctor's prejudices (that is all they are). At some point you have to decide WHO you are going to listen to. Most of us in this group know that doctors are great for tests and stuff when you want to know something, but that ultimately, it is not wise to listen to them for wellness and nutrition information, because they are not HEALERS, they are cutters and pasters, etc. Hippocrates, the first doctor, said LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE. It's ironic that all doctors, including your own, have to take the Hippocratic oath upon being indoctrinated into the western medical system..... Overall, if you are going to listen to your doctor, then nothing we say will convince you. If you are here because you want to know more about a TRULY healthy diet, then you have to be prepared to stand up to your doctor, as many have had to do. There is a TON of information available on the raw food diet. One of the best overviews EVER is called LIVING FOOD OPTIMUM HEALTH by Brian Clements. Excellent, excellent, excellent. That said, you are in the right place to find out more about it. It's as simple as eating an apple, though, truly. Especially this time of year. WElcome! Guest guest
Hi Karen, Weight loss is often one of the " side effects " of the healthful lifestyle that comes from eating a raw diet. For some people the weight loss is significant and rapid. I saw that some one else suggested educating yourself and I agree. The same person suggested you could read The China Study. I agree, it is very informative. I feel like your request for a simple daily plan is looking for a more specific and immediate answer than that. There is a great book called The 80/10/10 Diet, written by Doug Graham. (His website is www.foodnsport.com) 80/10/10 is a way of eating that suggests that at least 80% of your food come from carbs, no more than 10% from fat and no more than 10% protein. Doug Graham suggests that those foods be raw, ripe, organic fruits and leafy greens. An example of a simple day? Well, I can give you a sample of what a day might look like for me. Breakfast a smoothie made of: 20 oz of fresh squeezed orange juice 16 oz of frozen strawberries Blended this makes a very thick, very tasty drink. Lunch: 1 whole pineapple chopped Dinner: (salad) 1 lb of romaine lettuce 1 chopped cucumber Salad dressing: tomato / celery / red or yellow pepper blended. For snacks you could have any fruits you desire. I often choose bananas because they are so portable. You didn't say any thing about your current way of eating, or how much water you are drinking. If you are over weight, and I assume that you are from the question, hydration is important. Overweight people are chronically dehydrated and people who eat SAD (Standard American Diet) are even more so. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Guest guest
Hi Karen, I started the 80 10 10 diet by Douglas Graham exactly 3 months ago, and yesterday I weighed myself. I lost 15 pounds during those 3 months, and I wasn't really trying to lose weight. I went from 137 - 122, and my size reduced from a size 12 to a size 8. It's a great diet, and I'm hardly ever hungry, as long as I plan well for the day, especially when I'm away from the house! Hope that helps, Lynne > > Hi Karen, > > Weight loss is often one of the " side effects " of the healthful > lifestyle that comes from eating a raw diet.
