Jeannie,

That's great! After some time, maybe a week or two, you'll probably

notice your clothes are getting softer.

I suspect your friend is not using enough vinegar, or both, possibly.

I have heard that the vinegar neutralizes the urine. Perhaps soaking

them first would be a good idea, too. The item I had to rewash of cat

urine was in a very full load of towels I used in his cat caddy. He

died over Memorial Day weekend and was incontinent for a few months

prior. This was a real issue for me during those months. I had read

about salt and vinegar, but didn't use it since I already had a full

box of 7th Generation stuff. It wasn't until the cat urine issue

before I gave it a try. I was utterly amazed. Other than the one

time, I haven't needed to rewash anything.

Janet, I did the experiment and was quite pleased. I told a friend of

mine to try it (to save on laundry soap) and she said it worked well

for her except on a few of her babies clothes there was still a hint

of a urine smell. I told her to wash them again. She didn't want to

have to wash clothes twice.

But for me it worked well, so I will be doing it again.

Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is

promised to no one.

[Raw Food] using salt & vinegar in laundry...was Re: Elchanan

- Personal Reflections Hi Jeannie, I easily got the smell of cat urine

out of several things using vinegar and salt. Only one item needed a

rewashing, and that did the trick. That's all I use for my laundry,

now. It's made all of our clothes much softer, too.
