If I am not for myself, then who will be for me?

And if I am only for myself, then what am I?

And if not now, then when?

--- Maimonides

Principle for Vibrant Living: Giving and receiving are one.

______

Jeannie,

Many people come to RF for themselves only. Yesterday, someone wrote that

they wish to take what I share ... a very nice compliment ... and do not

care about me ... a sad but possibly honest testimonial from that person.

There is a world of difference between taking and receiving. Receiving

involves exchange, balance, harmony, connection. Receiving cannot occur

where there is no regard for the source of what is received. Taking involves

depleting of one for the benefit of another, regard for others is not

required.

I find that when we lift up our eyes, expand our view of the world and our

place in it,we nurture ourselves, and we create health more easily and

fully. People who live in service, at least part of the time, almost always

spend less time in self-pity, less time in anger, less time in stress ... in

other words, less time damaging and destroying themselves ... than do people

who focus almost exclusively upon themselves.

Lift up your eyes ... for your own sake!

Best,

Elchanan

Re: [Raw Food] Re:100%

I thought I was 100% but after reading this I guess I'm not. I eat cashews.

I've been eating them all along. I don't drink coffee anymore, I don't drink

alcohol, but ....I don't have the time to be exercising like I should.

I have not ventured to the path of raw for political reasons, or for earth

reasons, I did simply to improve my health and to loose weight. I still love

sad foods, I just know they are not good for me and have caused me to gain

lots of weight and become very unhealthy.

I have to admit, if I get chronically ill - heart disease, cancer, shortness

of breath, etc I will be going to a doctor.

So I guess I am not 100%. That's ok, I am learning and I am doing the best I

can.
