Guest guest
Hi Lynne, One of the women in PathOfHealth, who is presently in training to serve as a Mentor in our group, read my cross post there and mentioned something that I overlooked. Here is what you wrote: ______ Posted by: " fountayn2003 " <fountayn?Subject=%20Re%3A%20Advice%20for%20sleeping%20 through%20the%20night%3F> fountayn <http://profiles./fountayn2003> fountayn2003 Tue Jun 19, 2007 11:21 am (PST) -Elchanan, No, I am definitely NOT overweight. I weigh 126 pounds and I am 5' 6 1/2 " tall. I used to weigh 137, but I lost about 11 pounds since starting the 80 10 10 diet about 3 months ago. I am a size 10 now, as opposed to a size 12. I was never really overweight, since I used to follow the macrobiotic diet before I started the raw fruit and vegetable diet. Lynne ______ This person pointed out that at your height and weight, a size 10 sounds quite large. I agree, and I apologize for overlooking this useful piece of information earlier. My sense is that your body is at a good weight, but overfat and undermuscled. This is why I tell people to let go of weight as a measure of health, and instead to use body composition. Of course, the strength of cultural influence in this regard is strong, so few seem to listen (or they listen in silence). Anyone who is overfat ... regardless of body weight ... is dehydrated all the time to some degree. If this is the case, your system will continually be responding to this condition, holding and releasing water, that sort of thing. Not to the same extent as someone who is seriously overweight/overfat, but still, to a degree. So I don't know your body fat percent, do you? Also, what kind of scale are you using? Digital? Spring? If it's the spring kind, go stand on a digital scale and see what it says. The spring variety are often off by a considerable amount, even as much as 10-15 pounds. I say this because, as this PoH participant pointed out, the size 10 just doesn't fit in with the rest of your self-description, above. I'm not sure where Lynne lives, but I have noticed that sizes differ between countries. Size 10 in Australia is equivalent to (I think) a size 6 in the US; UK is different again. Waist and hip measurements might shed some more light on this, as dress size isn't a good indicator even within countries - a size 10 in one dress might be a size 16 in another dress. Guest guest
Thanks Jeannie!! ACtually all of my size 10 clothes are SO LOOSE; guess it's time to go shopping for some size 8 clothes! It feels good when you can go " down " a couple of sizes instead of 8!! By the way, I was going to make that yummy pasto pesto recipe. I had already peeled the Chinese eggplant for the pasta part of the dish. Then when I was getting out the ingredients for the sauce, I discovered that I had never purchased the pine nuts. I remember I was going to buy them, but they weren't organic. So I guess I never bought them after all! HOpefully, today, I'll be able to find some organic pine nuts! Would the non-organic ones be unwise to purchase? Anyone know? Thanks, Lynne > > I'd LOVE to be a size 10 in any country. lol > > Jeannie > > your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to > no one. > > > Caron <carongroups > <carongroups%40bearberi.com.au>> > rawfood <rawfood%40> > Friday, June 22, 2007 11:04:05 PM > Re: [Raw Food] Lynne ... more on hydration etc. > > I meant to reply to this a few days ago, but got caught up in the Blue > Blankie saga...(reply below) > - > Elchanan > >One of the women in PathOfHealth, who is presently in training to > serve as > >a > Mentor in our group, read my cross post there and mentioned something > that I > overlooked. Guest guest
- Elchanan >True Caron, I overlooked that. These are US sizes, inflated as they have become. ok, just checking ) I recall, many years ago, being quite offended when an american friend (who I knew online, so we'd never met face to face) suggested that I was overly large, at a size 10 - this was before I became fluent at translating between the cultures, hehe.
