Hi Jeannie,

I did not say these things are " not good for us " . I said to Caron that,

given where she seems to be right now, she might be better off without them.

I would likely suggest the same to anyone who is chronically overfat (what

people typically call " overweight " ).

The fundamental physical determinants of excellent health are hydration,

fuel, rest, and activity (usage and movement). Everything else follows

these. Foods that hydrate and fuel us the best while conserving energy

(creating relative rest) and exercising our digestive system constructively

serve us best. These foods are fresh, whole, ripe, raw, organic or better

fruits and tender greens. By " organic or better " , I mean produce that is

unaccompanied by any pesticides or the like, grown without use of commercial

fertilizers.

I strongly suggest giving up all attempts to eat for specific nutrients,

because this approach is inherently doomed. Why? Scientists presently are

aware of hundreds of thousands of nutrients, and who knows how many more

have yet to be discovered. You cannot eat for undiscovered nutrients, and

you cannot reasonably eat for hundreds of thousands of nutrients taken one

or a few at a time.

But if you master the " big pieces " , the rest will fall into place for,

naturally and with the greatest of ease.

seriously,

I absolutely love avocados, nuts and seeds. I thought it was a healthy thing

to consume these things. I thought we do need some healthy fats in our diet.

I have a hard time believing these things are not good for us. In the raw

cook books there are so many dishes made with these items that if you take

them out there is not much left.

This is very hard to take, Please tell me we can eat these things, if only

in moderation.

I'm so depressed,

Jeannie

Elchanan,

well, I am one of the " overfat " ...lol I like that term. Actually dr's call me

" clinically obese " . I need to loose over 100#'s.

I have been 100%raw for just over 2 months now and am getting pretty depressed

because I have not lost as much as so many of my other raw compadres.........

I am also a compulsive eater and a food addict. I am not one of the fortunate

people that " can't eat when upset " . I eat when I'm upset...I eat when I'm

happy....I eat when I have nothing to do....I eat when I'm busy....get the

picture?

I have hypothyroid disease so I don't metabolize foods the way normal people do.

I take synthroid.

I was excited because I thought I was loosing because of the way my clothes are

starting to fit me a bit looser, I made the mistake of going to gnc to step on

their scale that gives you information. I was so sad after seeing that I haven't

lost as much as I thought I had. I have to say I wanted to " fall of the wagon "

and just eat...I went to Olive Garden with a friend and had the soup &

salad...... I ate their bread sticks!! This is what I do when I'm depressed.

Intellectually, I know I should not be doing this, but emotionally I just say " to

heck with it " " why bother " ......

I've taken every kind of diet pill known to man, I've been up and down so many

times weight wise and each time I gained way more weight than before...

The sad thing is I was always so thin as a child and as a young adult. I don't

like this me. You would think I would be smart enough to do something

constructive about it.

This is what brought me to the raw lifestyle to begin with. I am not seeing

results.

Am I hopeless? Do you see any thing I might be able to do to see some better

results?

Sincerely,

Jeannie

your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one.
