Hi Jeannie,

What a wonderful letter, thank you!

I've come to believe that for most of us, the journey into health is as much

one of cleansing and restoring our minds as it is our bodies. For most

people, the " compulsions " , as you name them, or the " emotional eating " ,, or

the " comfort foods " , or whatever other language we use to camouflage what we

are really choosing, all reflect attempts to meet genuine needs. We may not

have figured out just yet how to articulate and/or meet those needs.

From my perspective, this involves work at a subconscious level. The

subconscious mind holds most of the " firepower " ... speed, memory,

multitasking capacity, etc. ... the conscious mind is designed to perform

entirely different functions. When we consciously choose A, yet find

ourselves doing " not A " , almost invariably there is a conflict between what

our conscious mind chooses and what our subconscious mind " knows " . And the

subconscious " wins " almost 100% of the time. We experience this as

frustration, disappointment, a sense of disempowerment and even despair. We

have no idea why we do as we do, and we have no idea how to get past this

seemingly impenetrable inner " wall " .

We have an audio program that begins to cover this subject matter, called

" Do I Have Two Minds, Or What? !! " , available at (and heaven only knows what

will do with this link)

I invite anyone who finds this subject matter of interest to listen to this

free program, sponsored by the Path of Health Community. The program

incorporates one example where we are working directly with someone's

subconscious " programming " .

Thanks again, Jeannie, for sending such a kind message!

Best,

Elchanan

Re: [Raw Food] Our Potential for Health (pH) (WAS: Why not stop

using products?)

Elchanan,

You make some very great points. I really enjoy such exchanges. I would

expect to understand if and when my system ever became that clean. You are

correct that my ability to believe is relative to my own experience. I agree

it has nothing to do with other's reality. Often times, when I make the

statement, " I can't believe " It is just a figure of speech. My intention, is

not really to invalidate what others experience. I understand that all

things are possible. What I didn't think was possible 20years ago, I now

know is possible. I come to realizations all the time in life. It is part of

life's learning and growth.

As far as animals not smelling bad to one another. lol.....my dog might

" beg " (pardon the pun) to differ...lol She will shun a critter that she

feels smells bad to her. lol You should see her. lol

I don't like to make assumptions that i can never become that clean and

healthy. I'd love to. I just say that as my life is now, with all my

" compulsions " I just don't see it happening. Obviously I'd like it to happen

or I would not have ventured onto this path of the raw lifestyle, I would

not be trying to " soak " up everything i can to learn all I can and educate

myself about all things raw. I am taking my journey into this raw lifestyle

" one day at a time " . This, so far, is what is making it work for me.

I am choosing to be healthy. I do want to be healthy. I just know how I tend

to be my own worst enemy when it comes to staying on track. I am trying not

to fall of the wagon. It is a daily challenge for me. As I type right now, I

am so hungry for something hot and I am going to resist because I know it is

not healthy for me.

I appreciate this dialog with you,

Respectfully,

Jeannie
