Guest guest
Hi Belinda, Thanks for sharing this wonderful description of your experience ... I have always understood Hounds to be among the smelliest, so your story seems refreshing, after a fashion. And I agree about the breeding, when we hybridize our animals, we get subanimals, in a sense. Were we to release these animals into Nature, most would probably perish. You asked: My question is. Does one need to be totally raw for this internal cleansing? No one can honestly answer this question with perfect certainty. So instead, I'll share what I have come to believe. Principle: We cannot reduce the level of foreign matter in our bodies by adding foreign matter to our bodies. To my knowledge, the human body interprets at least a portion of all cooked " foods " as foreign matter. For example, cooked proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are all damaged, at least to some degree. So as long as we continue to consume cooked foods with any frequency, we shall always be adding foreign matter to our bodies, and our bodies shall always be interrupting cleansing of the past to deal with cleaning in the present, so to speak. And whenever that interruption occurs, at least some degree of cleansing output also occurs, which we may observe as physical output and odors. Does this make sense? This is true in my experiences. I began to educate myself on eating raw after studying and feeding raw to my dogs. The change in them was significant. Not just physical things, but their whole personality. Some people spoke of doggie odors practically disappearing, and we all noticed the change in doggie poo odors and consistency. One of my dogs at the time was a Basset Hound. Anyone that has ever had the pleasure of owning one or meeting one will tell you that as a breed they are THE smelliest. All the bathing in the world will not get rid of the hound dog smell. Though our Basset did continue to have some odor, it was much less on raw. Bassets are such a " man made " breed, I suspect there are just some things that nature cannot change about them. Man has modified the dog into the Basset Hound we see today. Physically, very little about them is natural for a dog. The same can be said for many of the purebred dogs. The more bizzare looking and extreme the dog, the more health problems they have and the more intervention from man is needed to take care of them. But feeding raw did help her health a lot. This dog could acutally dance on her hind legs for her food. Not easy feat for an old Basset of 13 years. Sadley, an accident took her from us at 13, but she was still going strong. Oh and no doggie breath to speak of for any of the 3 dogs, on raw. Not to mention very clean teeth. They never had to have their teeth cleaned. Oh and I had very little parasite problems with them. No fleas at all. Ticks did get on them, but I pulled them off. The ones I missed, never seemed to cause them a problem. No intestinal worms, unless they ate a wild rabbit or squirrel that they caught. I stopped using pesticides on them when I began feeding raw. Anyway, so started my jouney into raw for myself. With this said, I can see where El is coming from about being clean on the inside makes you clean on the outside as well. My question is. Does one need to be totally raw for this internal cleansing?
