Hi Daina,

Yes, this simple explanation is far more likely than all the other " fancy "

explanations people offered without asking any questions.

I've seen people do this a number of times ... eat some heavy fried food,

then fast for some period of time. One person even ate fried chicken the

night before a LONG fast, and the fasting supervisor -- in a fasting center

-- missed it entirely. (Poor intake/interview procedure, combined with a

belief system that no one would ever do something that " stupid " . Well, it

wasn't stupid, it was only uninformed ... and it happened.) These people

NEVER enjoy a " happy " experience while fasting!

Chuck all the other explanations, they do not explain, in an immediate or

proximate sense, what you experienced. And next time, perhaps ask for a

little support BEFORE you fast! :) That's the real lesson, from my

perspective.

I encourage you to take to heart your own experience from that one day

eating bananas only. It sounds to me, from a distance and admittedly

possessing only limited information from you, like your system is (becoming)

exhausted. The purpose of mucus is to wrap harmful foreign matter for

transport out of the body, to keep that material from coming into direct

contact with the linings of your respiratory and digestive systems

(primarily). If your body is producing mucus to the degree you state, then

your body is filled with foreign matter that is sufficiently harmful that

your body cannot allow that material to touch your tissues, AND/OR your

capacity for elimination has become sufficiently diminished (weakened) that

your body MUST wrap all sorts of things in mucus, because even the

not-so-harmful becomes harmful when it sits around inside us for too long.

It begins to putrefy, ferment, etc. Probably both at the same time, that's

typical.

So some real, bona fide rest is in order ... and one easy way to create a

state of " relative rest " in your system is to dramatically simplify what you

eat. We speak extensively on this idea of " relative rest " in our

teleconferences, particularly What is Health? and Messages From Within, both

mentioned numerous times recently.

Best to all,

Best,

Elchanan

[Raw Food] Re: help! need advice... kinda gross though

Thank you, everyone, for your replies - a sinus problem seems likely now

that it was pointed out to me, I have a terrible post-nasal drip that I'm

trying to rid myself of by eating raw. It's constant, and gets worse when I

eat ANYTHING - the only improvement I saw was when I tried a monodiet of

bananas for a day - I felt like I could acutually BREATHE!

Anyway, it could have just been a build-up of mucus that ended up in my

stomach... which would expain the nausea. My lips didn't tingle, I don't

think it was food poisoning. The reaction just scared me - like it was

pointed out - it seemed like a severe reaction to just one day of water

fasting. I have done a short-term (3 days) water fast before, and nothing

like this has ever happened.

Elchanan - as for my diet prior to the one day water fast - I have been

about 85% raw (seriously striving to be 100%), but I have been eating a lot

of fats - nuts, avocados... I cheated with a handful of french fries (yuck)

the evening before I did the fast, which could explain my extreme

discomfort. Lesson learned!
