Guest guest
At Mon, 4 Jun 2007 it looks like Anna Bishop composed: <humbly_snipped> > life was meant to be enjoyed,,and if once a month i break down and do fast > food..and i enjoy it (altho lately the disgusting feeling after can not be > called enjoyment) > then so be it... > I agree, in the back of my pickup truck people sometimes see empty Starbucks cups, once holding my " Soy Hot Chocolates " and I have to remind people who smirk and make comment that those cups " USED TO BE BEER CANS " and that it's been over 18-1/2 years since I've consumed any alcohol... If they look like they need a little attitude adjustment, I don't miss a beat and ask them when they had their last beer! (giggle) I also thank Gawd, that in a pinch, having a " Fast_Food_Attack[tm], " that I can go into Burger King and get a very delicious Veggie Burger, sometimes with cheese, and still turn the heads of the people inside BK when I order it... The odds are that the cheese on that Veggie Burger is not " real " and there are posts that the BK veggie burgers do have dairy in it... But in the 12-Step fellowships, to help humans understand that we " are " in fact human, we have a saying, and it goes like this... " Progress, not Perfection... " And the reason they stress that, is that they'd prefer you not beat yourself up with not being perfect, just keep the progress up! Unfortunately some people's bottom are another person's ceiling when it comes to being ready to quit... For the billionaire, it's crashing their Bently and being forced to drive in something as low class as a $30,000 Cadilliac... For the homeless, it may be something like a child crying in fear when they see them in a doorway... Both are equally devastating to that person when at their " bottom " and in some lucky cases causes a quantum shift and there is a moment of clarity. The most fortunate thing is sometimes " hitting_bottom " quickly but in cases where there is a large family support group, the individual will always have a place to stay, always have meal to eat, always have a " dollar to borrow " and hitting bottom may never happen... In that case, having " more " (family) means " more " suffering... Most of the success cases I see come from: " A Nudge From Da Judge! " Comical as it may sound, it overides the ill informed family members who will " love " an addict right to their doom. Food is no different... People who get " clean " sometime, more times than not, find their " fix " in their pallet full of pizza, having an orgasmic rush the moment the cheese hits their taste buds... I've eaten pizza so hot, so fast, that the morning after, my mouth was still burnt! Like sex, or other mind or mood altering substances, food does the same thing rendering one senseless sometimes while " under the influence " not realizing till the next morning what transpired the evening before! Sorry for the off topic post, wanted to address the feelings I read above. Namaste. -- " Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
