Charlotte,

From your writing, below, the problem you describe is not in the chewing,

but in the choice of nuts to chew. Here is an experiment anyone can do:

1. Get yourself a generous portion of some nice, crunchy organic nuts.

Almonds will work just great.

2. Don't eat anything for at least 6 hours, overnight is better, fasting 36

hours (as from Friday evening to Sunday morning) is ideal.

3. Take a few moments to observe how your mouth feels ... moisture,

" wholeness " (no cuts, etc), whatever you notice.

4. Without eating any other food (water is okay, of course), begin eating

the nuts, ONE AT A TIME, chewing each nut fully. When you get the sense in

your mouth that it is time to swallow, do so.

5. As you eat each nut, take a few moments to observe how your mouth feels

.... moisture, " wholeness " (no cuts, etc), whatever you notice.

Repeat steps 4/5, eating the nuts, one at a time, at any pace (but

preferably not scarfing them down in rapid succession). Remember that the

purpose of this exercise is to develop self-awareness ... focus your

attention upon your own experience, upon what happens in your mouth. Notice

what seems to change as you continue eating the nuts; notice the physical

effects in your mouth. Notice the feeling you begin to experience in your

stomach/abdomen. Just notice.

Then write a post and share what you experienced ... if you wish!

Best to all,

Elchanan

[Raw Food] Re: Sensitive teeth

I am positive that, for me, it is the chewing. Of course, our bodies

need well-chewed food, but that doesn't mean it won't be hard on the

teeth. Nuts could be involved because they need to be chewed more, and

hard brushing also because of wear on the teeth.
