Guest guest
Hi Debbie, LOL at this (now 90% raw fooder - thanks to...the candida spit test!) <http://geo./serv?s=97359714/grpId=5520395/grpspId=1705015482/msgId =29224/stime=1179429931/nc1=4299907/nc2=4025373/nc3=3> Great humor, thank you! I'd like to take this opportunity to place this entire conversation in a different context. Specifically, I would like to encourage everyone to move away from the very idea of diagnosis. In the present-day medical model, the diagnosis serves two related purposes: 1. Directs a course of treatment. 2. Releases, or at least " justifies " , funds to pay for that course of treatment. But if the body cleanses and restores itself, then all treatments constitute direct acts of force against ourselves, for all treatments block the body's own processes. Therefore, we might choose to avoid all treatments (except possibly in some trauma cases). If we avoid all treatments, then we require no diagnoses. How can we benefit from this approach? Just consider all the reams of conversation here all about candida. Yet, candida is ALWAYS a secondary symptom ... that is, it is ALWAYS preceded by other symptoms. In fact, it is precisely when we do not notice or address those earlier symptoms relating to improper blood sugar management that Nature's solutions arise ... chronic fatigue, hyper/hypoglycemia, insulin resistance, diabetes 2, candida, etc. What do all these symptoms share in common? Excess sugar in the blood stream. Did ANY of these symptoms CAUSE that problem? Of course not. So if we are chronically tired, we need not wait any longer ... we need to address our mismanagement of blood sugar. Now, what causes sugar to back up in the blood on a chronic basis? Elevated blood fat. And how can we " solve " this problem? By cutting the overt fats from our diet. And if we know this, then we never needed the diagnosis in the first place. In fact, having the diagnosis can be very destructive. Just look at all the programs people go on, look at all the money people hand over to strangers holding out promises of " cures " . We would all serve ourselves and all life far better, in my opinion, by simply adjusting our diet, eliminating the cause of the problem. Then we could focus our talents and energy upon something more useful than a discussion about candida. No amount of discussing candida, no amount of treating it, will every cause anyone to become healthy. On the other hand, if you simply become healthy, then you shall never again experience ANY form of blood sugar management problem, be it candida, diabetes, chronic fatigue, etc. I mean this merely as an example. ALL diagnoses disserve us in some similar way--they focus our attention upon our symptoms, rather than upon the cause of whatever we may be experiencing. And most diagnoses tend to be focused rather than systemic, that is to say, fractional rather than holistic in nature. As diagnoses distract our attention from the CAUSE of whatever bothers us, we tend to focus our attention upon the symptoms as if they were the problem. From this, health can never arise. MORE ... Alcohol, Antibiotics Hi Elchanan Apologies if I'm misunderstanding, but I'm thinking then that it might be the case that my husband's diet is 'killing' everything! (this would be no surprise....). Also, I've been feeling doubtful myself about this spit test, and am interested that you do not rate the test. Yes, it detects candida. But, as you say, we've got all some inside us, so (provided we use good water) the test will detect whatever candida there is there. As to whether it can tell the difference between an 'OK amount' and 'too much'...? (I've been trawling the internet on this and can't find any scientific explanation for the test - just a lot of comments, about 75% saying it's accurate, but with no rationale for so saying. If anyone remembers, I'd got all in a lather about the positive test and immediately instituted an anti-candida diet. I hadn't actually recognised more than one or two things on the 'symptoms' list (I feel pretty healthy), but I had been experiencing a lot of gas and bloating associated with fruit, and had concluded that this was because the fruit was fermenting the yeast. Anyhow, for a couple of days I had no fruit. I then decided that actually there was no way I was going to cut fruit out of my diet - not even for a few weeks. What I have done since then is eat fruit for breakfast, and at no other time in the day. My tummy has been FINE. 'Lost' is no longer interrupted by the bassoon in my nether regions. It's all been interesting, and the net effect is, whether I have a terrible candida overgrowth, or all this is just....nothing at all, I've weaned myself off cooked bread and Marmite (which will stun anyone that's known me the last 20 years!). Many thanks to everyone who has shared information on this.
