Guest guest
Hi Dobby and Shebassong, Dobby, I so appreciate your comment here. We have all been taught to " look for bargains " . From where I sit, if I could find a few resources that would really support me in my own journey toward health, I'd consider them a bargain without looking at the price tag. At the same time, I do realize that some presently live on limited funds, that this may change, but probably not by tomorrow morning. I do not wish to make light if this. Doug has chosen to offer his book directly to the public. He paid for all the writing and research that went into the book; no one else paid for these things. He paid for the cover design, for the editing, for the physical publication of the books themselves. All from his own pocket. I say all this from first-hand, personal knowledge. And he simply wishes to receive back from the world in some reasonable proportion to what he has put in. As I wrote a few days ago, if we wish NOT to have government intervention, if we wish to retain the fullness of our own liberty, then we MUST learn AND CHOOSE to pay our own way, without any subsidies. Every time we choose to buy something from a vendor whose only value added is convenience with a discount, we shift our support away from whoever actually wrote the book in question. If we genuinely desire " old-world craftsmanship " , if we genuinely desire " quality " , then we must notice, and appreciate, and pay for it. Otherwise, everything will look ... and break ... like it came from Wal-Mart. Our own quality of life really is at stake here. But I searched the internet for the greater part of 3 hours looking around...I tried amazon, ebay, book clubs etc... I finally just realized that $30 is not that much. Its the same as most of pay for a co-pay at a drs office. So I just quit looking and decided to give credit where credit is due an bought it from the site. Like you said though some times funds are limited and I have to be cautious in spending money on items before I can really assess them. I of course tried the library first, but actually have some others comin in so I'll check them out. Is anyone familiar with the Raw life by Paul Nison or 90/10 by Joy Bauer, Eating in the Raw by Carol Alt? I must say that I am learning a lot about myself and my body and this group is great support and information. Ayana _____ > > > >
