Faith and trust in Nature's design; controlling detox; overemphasis upon diet (WAS: A couple of questions...I'm new to raw foods!)

Here is an additional perspective, Michelle. As we restore our faith in

Nature's design, we relearn to trust our own mechanisms. In particular, we

regain our innate awareness that our system will not attempt more than it

can handle. It MAY cause us to lie down and rest for awhile ... but it will

never undertake what it cannot safely accomplish, except to survive in an

impossible situation, as when we consume some fatal poison or experience

some self-destroying " accident " .

When someone " finds the detox too intense " , what this means is that they

would prefer to experience less discomfort right now. One can choose to eat

and live less healthfully in order to " slow the detox " ... just understand

that this is a choice to prolong lesser health in order to avoid short-term

discomfort.

I mean no judgment here. For myself, I prefer the shortest path to the goal.

And I do suggest that the stronger one's faith in the design, the deeper

one's trust in Nature's process, the easier it becomes to " put up with " the

transitional experience. This is why I teach healthful living and the RF way

of eating so very differently than almost every other teacher of whom I am

aware.

Note that I use the word " transitional " here in a different way than may be

familiar to most. I am not talking about " transitioning " one's diet, most

people trap themselves in all sorts of convoluted thinking in this regard.

Rather, I am talking about the larger and more profound transition, or

transformation, into a healthy, vibrant, vital man or woman. When we " slow

down the detox " , we slow down the transformation of ourselves.

Also, comments such as below reflect a disproportionate emphasis upon diet,

to the exclusion of other aspects of healthful living. For example, poor

habits with respect to rest and activity, excessive stress, and other

factors contribute heavily to impaired health. And I find that, in many

people, diet follows rather than leads these other factors. In other words,

one reason people find transitioning to a RF diet so difficult is that, for

them, it's an insufficiently broad approach on their own path of health.

Best to all,

Elchanan

RE: [Raw Food] A couple of questions...I'm new to raw foods!

I know of a lot of people who have said that due to the toxicity of their

past diets, their level of medication, etc.. that going 100% was just too

much for their bodies all at once. The withdrawal and the low times can be

too much.

I read something really obvious that makes a lot of sense... no matter what

other people say you need to go into this thinking that it's a long term

life decision and it's better to ease into it than to throw your body in

head first.

There is a lady named Angela Stokes who is English and she tried going 100%

raw overnight. She did well for a while but then found the detox too

intense. She was 80 - 90% raw for a while and allowed her body to

transition.

She says that it's far better to transition for life than to keep going back

and forth and I think that is very true.
