Yes, in much of North America the watermelon harvest is still several weeks

away. What we have is largely coming up from Mexico. I have found one store

in the San Francisco that has organic, somewhat-seeded little watermelons,

running about USD 4-6 each (and I buy by the case). I choose to spend

whatever I wish upon food, I value my food choices more highly than I value

many other things. Of course, these are just my own personal priorities,

nothing more. I realize that's rather " expensive " for watermelon!

Just make sure they feel firm and heavy. If you see a trace of stem, look

for it to be dried out, brownish, sort of like dead grass. Look for a nicely

apparent creamy spot. And if in doubt, just ask the produce department to

cut one open for tasting, often they are delighted to do so.

In case some are wondering, " Why watermelon? " ... Very high in water, high

in simple sugars well-accompanied by soluble fiber; very high in alkalizing

minerals AND very low in acid-forming minerals.

Please note that watermelon is about the fastest-digesting food most of us

can obtain. So be sure to eat it in FRONT of other foods, not behind the,

lest you experience fermentation in the gut.

I do find the seeded go through me more " nicely " than the seedless, given

that both seem reasonably and similarly ripe. Enjoy!!

Re: Dehydration symptoms: [Raw Food] Dry Skin

HEY I like the watermelon idea. I wouldn't have thought of it. I'm going to

try it. It's possible that it may do more for me " mentally " as well if I do

that for a few days. I notice in the stores there are many seedless, which

is something I've never eaten. If that's all they have, it'll do for now.

Thanks,

Tanya

Today I've just had watermelon and may do this " watermelon fast " for a few days.

I can feel the difference not in the dryness on my face, BUT with my body. I've

stared another " cleansing/detoxing " process and this is good. Cleansing for me

(I don't know about others), tends to be painful and my internal thermostat is

" off. " During cleansing, I'm really cold, but sweat profusely, thus making the

whole experience icky!

I notice now after being raw for close to 3 months that the cleansing process is

easier. It would seem I would have dryness on all areas of skin and not just my

face, but I'm sure there's a reason for that.
