When I use it, I put it in an out of the way place on the floor near an outlet. I just made some dehydrated sweetpotato and lime chips. They were just o.k. I think newbies (including me) get overexcited about recipes and appliances. Just eat some fruit!< i have to agree with you on this one!! i have been mostly raw for over a year, but i didn't have a dehydrator until recently when a friend just GAVE me her excaliber! so it's nice to have and play with, but i'm glad i didn't buy it...i would not enjoy it as much because i am not that thrilled with the process. my favorite snacks are celery and other crisp and crunchy veggies with fresh guacamole dip. not having a dehydrator right away was frustrating at first because all the recipes i came across were all about the dehydrator...i came to think of it as this magical mystery machine that would make all my wildest raw food dreams come true. well, it just isn't all that. fun, yeah...for making fruit roll ups and cereal once in awhile. but i like my fruit with the water left in it...and i have to admit, i'm a low fuss, low maintenance person. and a lot of dehydrator recipes call for a lot of work...LOL...does that make me lazy, maybe...but i like things simple. peace, laura http://sssmommy.etsy.com We won't tell.
