Wow, I almost wish I would've found this group two months ago when I

went cold-turkey RAW!!! I've been looking thru the files and I found

two things I found really interesting that really illuminated the

past

two months! For one, I've been FREEZING to death. I mean it, I'm

ALWAYS cold, even though it's been in the 60's-70's here. I was in

the

car, with the heater on high, and I was still shivering one

morning. :0

I'm so glad that I read the one file on the body temperature drop.

Has

anyone else had this happen? I used to be hot all the time, now I'm

always cold!!! does it eventually balance out so I'll feel normal???

I

love how much better I feel, the energy, etc. but I hate to think

I'm

going to be the only weirdo at a beach wearing a hoodie in the

middle

of the summer (lol)

the other thing was the ANGER issue. That first month...whoa. I was

SO

angry, I was almost violent at times. I threw things around my

house,

had these outbursts of horrible negative energy. Now looking back I

like to think it was all the toxins releasing them from my system in

some weird way. I feel kind of bad for my friends though. Boy, was I

intolerable! Everyone told me " if this is what you're going to be

like

on Raw food, please, please stop!!! " I told them it was prob. just a

passing thing, and I am glad it did pass. I don't have any of those

swings anymore.

I'm still finding it really challenging, I went totally cold-turkey

which was the ONLY way for me to do it. I knew I wouldn't be able to

do it if I only did it 1/2 or 2/3 of the way. I still have cravings

for " bad stuff " but it's fewer/farther between, and it's true, when

I

try something I used to eat, ICK! Usually it tastes awful. Still,

there are some things I'm really having trouble giving up. My main

one

is sushi. Luckily I usu. only eat veggie sushi anyway, and I just

got

some jicama so I can try the sushi recipe made with jicama " rice "

that's in Raw Food Real World. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with it

and will stop craving the 'real' sushi. At least my

downfall/challenge

food isn't like three meat pizza or something horribly, terribly

unhealthy.

Anyway, hello to everyone here. I'll def. be dropping in often. I've

found that to keep myself on track, I only have to pick up one of my

books, read some articles online, etc. and it keeps me from falling

off the wagon. It's SO true what everyone says too, it is NOT a

diet,

it's a lifestyle! That's so hard to explain to some people. They

think

it's just a fad diet thing. A lot of people here in the midwest

REALLY

don't get it. :( There are NO raw food restaurants in Michigan. I

wish

I could open the first one someday...that's actually my hope and one

of the things that keeps me really wanting to stay on track!

I'm so glad to have found this group! Lots of interesting reading

and

great support from what I've read so far. Glad to be here.

I'm a crazy-at home chef type of person and have always cooked a

LOT,

so I'm having a blast NON-cooking and creating all kinds of

interesting meals, salads, smoothies, fruit salads, etc. I have

pretty

much every kitchen thing I need except a mandoline and spiral

slicer...I have a vita-mix, a juicer (yeah, I know all the

differences

between the two and have read all the pros and cons of all the

juicing

things...vitamix vs. regular, etc. It's pretty interesting), a

dehydrator, food processor, blender...and I'm happy to say my

toaster

is now stored away!!!! :) I'd get rid of my microwave, but I have a

roommate and boyfriend who use it occasionally. Luckily my b/f is

interested in raw and is trying a lot of the things I'm making. I'm

hoping someday he might totally switch over with me, esp. since he

has

asthma and allergies, and I've read SO much about the benefits of

raw

in regards to that...I told him, the less milk, cheese, flour,

sugar,

etc. he eats, the better esp. for his asthma. I've read a lot about

helping ease asthma symptoms and the first thing they usu. suggest

is

diet change. Now the hard part...getting him to do it! :) don't

worry,I'll keep trying!
