Guest guest
Hi Debbie, It is my understanding that rolled oats are steamed (so not raw) because they tend to go rancid so quickly. However, oat groats (groats are the hulled grains of various cereals) might be raw. I know I like them soaked and blended with fruit for a nice breakfast cereal. -Caroline ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ www.rawtiffin.com
Guest guest
They are not raw unless you have you flake them yourself. Guest guest
Was wondering myself and found this today- looks good- I have also had a friend have me put fresh orange juice on top of rolled oats (I was knowing they weren't raw)- it however, makes them soft and totally yummy- as if they were cooked in the orange juice. I wonder how we could do this with oat groats??? Any ideas?http://www.karenskitchen.com/a/recipe_rawoatmeal.htm At 08:24 AM 5/3/2007, you wrote: >They are not raw unless you have you flake them yourself. > >Nadhirrah >www.summerbear.org ><rawfood%40>rawfood , > " deborah164951 " <thisgeneration >wrote: > > > > Hi everyone > > > > Since joining this forum a week or two ago, I've learned so much - > > thank you! > > > > Here's a question that's been puzzling me for a while. > > > > Are dry oats (the kind used for porridge, muesli etc) raw?
