vanilla bean in smoothie?

I have been adding alcohol-free Frontier vanilla to some of my fruit

smoothies. I have never used actual vanilla beans. Could I just snip

some of one of them into the smoothie and would it blend? Would I need

to soak it first? It would probably be cheaper than buying the bottled

stuff.

Thanks,

Beth

We scrape the inside out of the bean, this, with young coconut water

and flesh makes an awesome 'pudding'!

I don’t know if it would be cheaper but it would taste better. If you have a

very good blender then you can just snip some of the bean and add it to your

smoothie. If you don’t have a very good one then you will have to cut the pod

and scrap out the inside of it to get the flavor without the hard shell.
