Guest guest
How do you prepare the black beans for your salads? DO you just soak them? Sprout them? How do you make beans pleasant to chew, not so hard and crunchy without heating them? Joe Postma <joepostma rawfood Monday, April 9, 2007 6:02:49 PM [Raw Food] Re: New- Hippocrates Help? Hey Carly, The Hippocrates diet is mostly or entirely based on the Natural Hygiene - raw food diet, except I think it advocates daily consumption of wheat grass juice, and eating lots of sprouts. That's a good book you reference, I have it too. It is a perfectly great raw food diet as far as I am aware, but you could pick up books like " Eat to Live " and " Ph Miracle for Weight Loss " , as they are based on raw food and natural healing as well and may have more info for you. Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember reading that cabbage has an enzyme that is beneficial to lung repair and maintenance and detox. I experimented with this by eating lots of raw cabbage salads (smoothies work too) and I indeed found that I was coughing up mucous for a few weeks, and after most of it was out my lungs feel cleaner and I can breath deeper etc etc...it just feels better. Maybe it was coincidence with my eating better in general, but, it's worth a shot if you feel like it. I used both the red and green types of cabbage in my salads, along with grated carrot, chopped parsley, a small amount of chopped onion, 2/3c black beans, and a simple squeezed lemon as dressing, and sometimes 1/2tbsp of olive oil. It is a very satisfying salad, especially with the beans. Hope it helps! Joe! rawfood@ .com, " carlylilyrose " <carly.streiff@ ...> wrote: > > Hello all, > I am totally new to the raw food life.
