Guest guest
BROWN SUGARS 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/8 tsp.salt 1/2 cup ground walnuts Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a cookie sheet; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter or margarine with an electric mixer on medium speed. Add the brown sugar and the 1/2 cup granulated sugar; beat until well blended. Beat in the egg and vanilla. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating on low speed just until combined. Add the ground wal- nuts; stir well. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1-inch in diameter). Roll the balls in the additional granulated sugar to coat. Place the sugar-coated balls 3 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet. Using a flat-bottomed glass, flatten each dough ball on the cookie sheet. Bake in the 350 degree oven for 10 - 12 minutes or until the cookies are golden on the bottom. Transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool. Makes 2 to 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
