Guest guest
Hi echolike, i could agree with your statement if it had read something like this: 'I consider myself a true vegetarian and I will not eat whatever is offered just to be polite. I simply do not eat the flesh of animals...it is a value that I feel I cannot compromise.' instead of: " A true vegetarian will not eat whatever is offered just to be polite. They simply do not eat the flesh of animals...a value that is not to be compromised. " Not everyone aspires to YOUR VALUES, so it's not your place to pass judgement because we are not like you. You can do and think however you want. I just don't want your statements to make others feel bad if they aren't perfect vegetarians. Any step towards vegetarianism, no matter how small, is a positive. No hard feelings, Susie --- echolike <echolike wrote: > I am a vegetarian and that statement is fair and > true coming from me. Guest guest
I can see little difference in what I said and what you said. And my feelings ARE hurt because you were inferring I was judging...not my intention. I agree any step towards vegetarianism is positive and that is my opinion. I still respect those who never take that step. My intention was to explain the position of people with values similar to mine. ________________________________ " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x Friday, December 26, 2008 6:02:14 PM Re: Re: QOTW: What are you having for Christmas dinner? - echolike Hi echolike, i could agree with your statement if it had read something like this: 'I consider myself a true vegetarian and I will not eat whatever is offered just to be polite. Guest guest
looking back on my own reply made just a few minutes ago, i would like to apologise to you. while your words came across as harsh, i feel that mine did as well. i would like to state that semantics is a definite issue in the posts on the topic. i, like many, inferred that the vegetarian/vegan/blah blah blah hierarchy was rearing its ugly, elitist head here and for many (myself included), it's a bit of a sore nerve. again, to echolike - i am truly sorry. in no way do i intend to make personal attacks at another, just as you didn't either.
