Guest guest
I'm not sure how long ago this was asked or on which list but we have dinner at noon and today we are having Donna's super delicious Haitian Onion Pie. Wow, it's good. The onions are all chopped and waiting for the pie to get put together. While it's baking, I'll be roasting sweet potatoes and parsnips to go with it. To add the green I need with every meal, will be either lightly steamed or raw broccoli. I think I'll probably go for the raw to add texture to the meal. I've already made curried broccoli soup this morning so that's supper for the next few days. The pie will last for at least 3 days too as I ration it out. The urge to eat it all in one sitting is hard to resist. I've been a very good girl this morning so hopefully DH won't notice that the housework still isn't done and that I'm going to sew for a while. He's too excited about the onion pie to notice anything I haven't done. Thanks Donna. That's just about my all time favourite recipe Audrey
Guest guest
Haitian Onion Pie sounds interesting. Besides onions, what is in it? Tell Donna to get her 501s over here and share it with us! hahaha Your meal sounds wonderful, Audrey. Yesterday I made a big pot of vegetarian chili. I added a few things to it that I had onhand to use up: some cubed teriyaki tofu and some corn with green and red bell peppers. Now you would think that teri-tofu would be a weird choice for a tex-mex stew, but it added a lovely sweetness to counter balance the spicy smoky flavor of the chili. Anyway, it was a huge hit because I only have one bowl leftover for lunch today. If I can keep people away from it, maybe I can take that in my lunchbox for work tomorrow! I don't know what sounds good for dinner tonight. Any ideas? I want something warm and filling because this foggy cold weather just doesn't feel like it will burn off so far. ~ PT ~ On this bleary white afternoon, are there fires lit up in heaven against such faking of quickness and light, such windy discoursing? While November numbly collapses, this beech tree, heavy as death on the lawn, braces for throat- cutting ice, bandaging snow. ~ Edwin Honig, November Through a Giant Copper Beech ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ , " Audrey Z Burrows " <quiltbug wrote: > > I'm not sure how long ago this was asked or on which list but we have dinner at noon and today we are having Donna's super delicious Haitian Onion Pie.
