Guest guest
I am a day late and dollar short in posting the weekly questions of the week, *lol* so I thought instead of the usual, why don't we just share our favorite autumn recipes that contain pumpkin and/or squash? You really find an abundance of these delicious veggies in the stores, farmer's markets and gardens right now. What are some of your favorite pumpkin/squash recipes? Recipe? We don need no steeekeen recipe...! Spaghetti squash, mmmm....! And pumpkin pie, is my birthday cake...! My favorite cake, ironically, being, Boston Cream...Pie, LOL! I use the Libbies (sp) Pumpkin Pie recipe, basically. I may use my Jack-O-Lantern as the goods, as it were. Or not, depending... - I do always add a bit extra vanilla, - use smaller eggs so I can to toss an extra in and not go *too* overboard. - A lil extra nutmeg and cinnamon. -Eagle brand Sqweetened Condensed milk. -AND Extra vanilla ....AND extra sugar in the whipped cream topping. (If it's CoolWhip that year, just add a dash & a tsp extra and stir well...) Then be sure to eat extra too. Here's a funny one...: My ex, made me one for my BD. She was so proud. Baked it. Stuck it in the fridge. Hauled it out when I got home... Real big deal for us, approaching our 1st yr of marriage. Well, it had a 1/2 " layer of white atop it. Cha-griN... She had gotten some can of Redi-Whip, etc. And EMPTIED it, atop the hot pie b4 it went into the fridge... She and one GF had made me a turkey with ALL the giblets... still inside. Shaking head. both, v smart gals. one was a peer, an Intelligence Officer. The other, got a small business startup award. She at least, had a great homebody mom. Guys 'n Gals... Teach yer kids all, to be able to cook, whatever they see. They can learn to wash dishes on their own. MAKE them COOK. Once a month. Or serious help with all holiday meals. It ain't hard. And they need a recipe only as a guideline. TEACH them, to deviate. TEACH them, confidence to go where they ain't gone be-fer. Don't help them, too much. It just hurts them. Same as doing their homework. And nothing says home, like home cookin'. Nothing says Lovin', Like something in the oven, And they better learn to cook, For that lovin' somethin' that's in the oven... Burma Shave. ;>) Happy Jack-O-Lantern Day! God Bless... BillSF9c
