Guest guest
At a loss to come up with an interesting set of questions of the week this week, I thought we could just share what we plan on making for dinner. It doesn't matter what day of the week you want to share about. Share one day, or share your week's worth of dinner ideas. QOTW for October 5th-11th, 2008: 1. What do you plan to have for dinner this week? 2. Do you plan your menu in advance? 3. How often do you try a new recipe?

I shall be eating that red lentil soup for the next few days - I'm only half-way through it :-( Financially things are a bit tight so I have been going through the group files and my cookery books looking for recipes that will use up staples from my cupboard like lentils and split peas and which only use a few ingredients. Last week I made a lemony Ethiopian lentil soup which I believe I saw in the files here and which was lovely, a north African lentil and chickpea soup which I will post here and the Turkish lentil soup I had the problems with - are we seeing a Mediterranean lentil pattern here? > 2. Do you plan your menu in advance? Often I do plan in advance. I did a lots of cooking in August and then froze 3/4 of what I cooked so I have been living from the freezer. > 3. How often do you try a new recipe? When I was vegetarian and working full time I got into a bit of a rut and I used to eat the same things day after day. Since I started eating a vegan diet, I'm eating a much more varied diet. My aim is to try at least 1 new recipe per week - some weeks I don't manage this but then I'll make 3 new recipes in the same week. This week I plan to try a chickpea and garlic soup recipe plus a vegan chocolate brownie recipe from How It All Vegan. Christie
Guest guest
QOTW for October 5th-11th, 2008: 1. What do you plan to have for dinner this week? In no particular order and not necessarily together Indian sausages Hearty Barley Bake Chick Pea Cutlets Roasted peppers with lots of onions and garlic Roasted sweet potatoes Veggie Frittata Soup, soup and more soup 2. Do you plan your menu in advance? When I'm busy on a quilting project, the meals get planned. When I'm just having a day of housework or rest, the meals don't get planned much. I had supper planned for tonight but my husband just informed me that he's having a couple of slices of watermelon instead of a meal. That's fine. I'm sure I have a single serving of a veggie meal in the freezer. Works for me 3. How often do you try a new recipe? Not as often as I should. I try new recipes more in the winter and usually only on Sunday morning. Why? I have no idea but I think when I was a single mother of 4 teenagers and working full time that was the only time that I could be sure of the kids sleeping in and not getting in my way. Saturday was for shopping and laundry and Sunday morning for cooking. I've got a list of new recipes ready for the winter. I'm hooked on a lot of blogs with great recipes.
