My new garden

The plumbing in the kitchen stopped up horribly, so I had to wash dishes in the

bathroom sink for a week. Since the only running water in the house was in the

bathroom, that also meant I washed beans in a colander in the sink before taking

them to the kitchen to cook.

I am close to legally blind (already legally blonde) and didn't notice that a

few kidney beans had fallen between the toilet and the bathtub.

When going into the bathroom today for the usual things, I felt something

tickling the side of my leg and looked down.  I saw a light green blur which I

thought was a bath towel and reached down to toss it onto the pile of " must be

washed before they grow " laundry.

Now you know how it is when you reach for something only to feel something

totally different, it can be a bit disconcerting.  In my case, I shrieked.

Living out in the country it isn't unusual for a snake to get in and it wouldn't

be the first time I grabbed a snake rather than something else.

After getting off the top of the toilet I bent down and squinted hard and

realized what the pale green blur was.

Yep, you guys have already guessed it.  I had several kidney beans that had gone

to sprout and the beans have grown through the bathroom floor (badly needs

replacing) and up to the bottom of the tank lid.

At least I now know that my dry beans will sprout in the garden, should I have

to use them as seed.  I just don't think I will have them growing in the

bathroom.
