Guest guest Posted June 6, 2008 Report Share Posted June 6, 2008 Swedish Sugar Cookies 1 cup sugar 1 cup shortening (or 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup shortening) 1 egg 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add egg, then flavorings. Sift dry ingredients. Mix. Make pieces of dough size of walnuts. Press down with fork dipped in water. Bake at 375 for about 10. Cool on rack. minutes. Yield: About 7 dozen cookies. Is that like vanilla extract in a bottle of concentrated liquid? If you use butter-flavor shortening and real butter can you skip it?
