Swedish Sugar Cookies

 

1 cup sugar

1 cup shortening (or 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup

shortening)

1 egg

1/2 tsp. butter flavoring

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

 

Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add egg,

then flavorings.

Sift dry ingredients. Mix. Make pieces of dough size

of walnuts.

Press down with fork dipped in water. Bake at 375 for

about 10. Cool on rack.

minutes. Yield: About 7 dozen cookies.

And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day

So she buys an instant cake.

Those sound wonderful, Donna.

I just have a question. I have never heard

of butter flavoring. Is that like vanilla extract

in a bottle of concentrated liquid?

If you use butter-flavor shortening and real

butter can you skip it?
