1. Was your mom what you would consider now a good cook when you were

growing up?

I come from a family of exceptional cooks. My great grandparents

whom came over from Italy had an Italian restaurant in Connecticut.

My mother is a fantastic cook and is not afraid to try something new.

2. Did your mom share recipes, cooking advice, or teach you some bits

of kitchen wisdom you still use now? What were they?

My mom taught me how to cook when I was a little girl and as I got

older I was able to plan, shop and cook for 1- 2 meals each week.

She taught me how to cook from scratch, double up on recipes, freeze

some for later and shop economically. She taught me how to make

something out of practically nothing. She taught me the value of

cleaning as you go, the importance of setting a nice table always,

not just for company and the value of sitting down to meals everyday

as a family. Even as a teenager, I preferred to have dinner with my

family before I would go out with my friends. No matter how busy our

lives are, my family eats together every evening and a quick

breakfast in the a.m. even if it is just to gulp down a fresh fruit

smoothie.

3. What is your favorite dish of all that your mom made?

It is really hard to say what my favorite dish is because we ate such

a variety of foods from different ethnicities but pretty much

anything Italian is my favorite! I guess if I had to narrow it down,

I would say her eggplant parmesan, ratatouille and vegetable or

mushroom lasagna.

I have always loved my mother's cooking. However, now that she is trying to

eat healthier, I have to say that, unfortunately, much of it is rather bland

She relies heavily on chicken broth, as well.
