Guest guest
Thanks for sharing your trials and what you liked about each method. I always thought those instant refried beans sounded like a great hiking/campout food; an easy way to take something filling and easy to prepare. ~ PT ~ Every flower is a soul blossoming in Nature. ~ Gerard De Nerval , treazure noname <treazured wrote: > > I found a recipe online for making instant refried beans by grinding dried pinto beans into a powder then adding spices and such, making a slurry of them with water in a frying pan and finish up as one does with refried beans. It was all right but not that great as we like bits of bean and even whole beans in our refried beans. Guest guest
Good point, the instant ones would be perfect for camping/hiking. You could do an instant hummus too by grinding garbanzo beans. You got me to thinking. I'll do up some of the ground bean meal and mix with spices and dried peppers and such, air tight seal and put in my emergency supplies. Guest guest
I think many people that do the backpacking- light trail food thing cook then dehydrate the beans before grinding. I haven't tried it myself because I would have to invest in a dehydrator. ~ PT ~ , treazure noname <treazured wrote: > > Good point, the instant ones would be perfect for camping/hiking.
