Guest guest
hi judy, i use firm or extra firm tofu. i drain it, slice it (about 4 thick slices), and lay the slices out on a towel. i cover them with another towel and press down to remove all the liquid. i'll change out towels and continue pressing until the tofu is really dry. i cut the tofu into cubes and then lightly dredge in flour (or cornstarch). then fry for about 3 to 4 minutes. i use about a 1/2 inch of oil in the pan and just flip the tofu once to make sure it's browned on all sides. you can deep fry it to save the flipping. i have tried this with tofu straight out of the package and with tofu that has been frozen and defrosted and I like the non-frozen better. i've put the fried tofu into soups, curries, and have eaten it like an appetizer with a sweet chile sauce or the soy-cilantro dipping sauce. hope this makes sense. lol.....it's been one heck of a day and i don't feel very ....uh, uh, uh, coherent? susie --- On Thu, 4/24/08, wwjd <jtwigg wrote: wwjd <jtwigg Re: [recipe request] Green Beans, please! Thanks and this recipes sound yummy. Judy - artichoke72x@ Thursday, April 24, 2008 11:44 AM Re: [recipe request] Green Beans, please! i like to use fresh green beans in thai curries. i take a can of red (or green) curry paste and mix it with a can of coconut milk. I add fresh green beans (or sometimes frozen) and other veggies (eggplant, onions, squash, etc...) and cook until everything is tender. Chunks of fried tofu is great added to the curry mix too (even just tofu and green beans is great). Ever since I've learned how to fry tofu, I've been using it in everything. hope this helps, susie ______________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
