Guest guest
In the interest of my friend's health, I have decided to come to you, the experts in the field of vegetarianism. My boyfriend is a type 1 diabetic. (since age 8, now 43 years of age) He believes he has to have animal protien daily because of his diabetes. I believe it does not matter what kind of protien as long as he has protien in his diet. Please enlighten us, StarLadyAstara
Guest guest
We may be experts in vegetarianism, but you need an expert in diabetic diet. May I suggest american diabetes assoc. or diabetes.com. His endocrinlogist would have the best advice. Whatever they say about him and his health concerns, they know best. Diabetes is very serious and often mismanaged leading to severe complications. That is the best advice I can give you. Guest guest
Hi. Here are a few links for you to check out. I have been diabetic for 16 years, mostly uncontrolled. I now have kidney problems and my nephrologist is the one that said a vegetarian diet would be best for me. I did some reseach and messed up alot (ate alot eggs and cheese) but I finally found these two sites. There are many reasons to go veg but for diabetes, a vegan diet is best. For me *personally*, my blood sugar and blood pressure dropped to normal. The protien in my urine (kidney issues) was cut in HALF in just one month. There is a lot of research out there that does in fact say there is a difference in the source of protien and how it affects your body. I am NOT a doctor, just relating my own experience. http://www.pcrm.org/ http://www.drmcdougall.com/med_diabetes.html Stephanie Looking for a deal?
