Guest guest
Ok two questions: does anyone have a good recipe, or a simple idea as to how to cook bak choy? My son loved it at a Korean restaurant so I bought some but now have no clue how to cook it. Also, are there any tips on how to get a 10 month old to like tofu, or at least a healthy substitute? -Liz
Guest guest
Bok Choy is so easy to prepare. I usually just cut it in large chunks and braise it in a little veggie stock with soy sauce, garlic and a little ginger. As for the 10 month old and tofu: my grandson is 2 years old right now, but at that age, I just mashed up banana or mango (or both) with soft or medium tofu and I called it banana or mango pudding. He still gets that when he comes to visit and he loves it. Even though his Mommy and Dad eat meat, he just doesn't like it. I have no problem with that. My only thing is that I don't like adding sugar to his food. I have found that when you freeze an older banana and then thaw it, it almost has like a syrup in it and I like to use that for both him and myself. Guest guest
Hi Liz and happy saturday! My little one ate tofu from about 11 months on and to this day tofu bites are one of her favorite snacks. When she was your sons age I blended it with all kinds of fruit (banana was her first) using either a masher or hand blender. This tastes like a yummy dessert. I also made tofu salad by combining tofu, avocado and a little bit of braggs. Adding soft tofu to fruit smoothies is also a great way to boost morning protien intake and the taste is so soft that one is barely aware of its presence. As for the bok choy, stir frying is always a great option and you could incorporate tofu into that meal as well. Stir fries are super finger food for little hands! If your son likes salad, grated bokchoy works with any green from chard to spinach. I hope this helps!
