People on this list appear to be generally accepting of one another's individual efforts to be kind to animals. With only a tiny, small fraction of the population in American abstaining from eating meat, I find it counterproductive that those of us who don't eat animals would argue with one another (such as what you mentioned with the " lacto-ovo " vs. vegan debates). Where I live in a conservative Midwestern state where fields are covered with cows being fattened for the slaughter house, people who learn that I am vegetarian think I am an oddball eccentric and some are even outright hostile. Perhaps some of the rest of the folks here have had to deal with that. We should be supporting and encouraging one another, I believe.
