Guest guest
I made this thai salad today and it was wonderful. I found pre-shredded green papaya at a new asian market in town. Tomatoes are also traditionally used in this salad. The next time I make this, I'll probably add chopped cilantro or thai basil for even more flavor. Green Papaya Salad 1 medium green papaya, peeled and seeds scooped out 1 large carrot 1 large hot red chili pepper, or 2-3 small ones 1 clove garlic, chopped 1 shallot, peeled and chopped 1 T brown sugar 1 T soy sauce Juice of one lime salt and pepper ¼ c. crushed roasted peanuts, for garnish (optional) Using a grater or food processor, shred the papaya and carrots. Place the papaya and carrots in a large mixing bowland season with salt and pepper. Pound garlic, shallot, chilies, and sugar in a mortar with a pestle (or blend in a food processor). Mix the chili-garlic combination with the brown sugar, soy sauce, and lime juice, and pour onto the papaya and carrots. Toss to mix. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with peanuts, if desired. ______________________________\ ____ Have a burning question? Go to www.Answers. and get answers from real people who know.
